January 27, 2015

Well January went by awfully quick. We have got to work here and have a good 7 investigators progressing with a baptism this week and a good 3 to 4 set for the next week! But we have cambios the next week and I think one of us is to go... But we won't know until the next week or this Wednesday Possibly. But we have seen miracles and like they say the key to missionary work is work.
Yesterday we finished our P day 2 hours early to visit with an investigator that did not have any other time during the day to meet, but this was important because they can be baptized this week. We went to the appointment and in the beginning she told us she liked the church but she wouldn't be baptized because she had been baptized before. We then finished what we taught and added the power of the priesthood and how we need to be baptized by the right authority. I then challenged her to baptism and she didn't really say anything for awhile and just avoided it. So we asked her to say the prayer and right after the prayer she said Everything is ok for Sunday, Meaning that she was ok to be baptized on Sunday. I was a little reluctant to give up my P day but now everything is all worth it because we are going to have a baptism and help another soul come unto Christ. This investigator is Hermana Winnyfer and she is 15 years old and living with a member family.
We also met another family through an investigator. Before I have talked about Hermana Flor and she is awesome but she is not baptized yet she always attends church and believes everything. But because of issues with her family she has not been able to be baptized, but she has invited many of her friends to the church and right now we are visiting with 2 of her friends and their children. They are awesome and I feel so blessed to be here in this area with amazing people to help in the service. They have attended church the past 2 weeks and love it and they just need to keep following the commandments to be baptized the following Sunday. It's amazing the miracles we can see in our lives if we just put forth a little work and do our best in all thing by being obedient with exactness!
I love you all and hope you have an amazing week. I know that this church is true and the power of the priesthood is the power of God on the Earth!

January 20, 2015

Hey Everyone,
It was a crazy week with emergency changes all over the place here, I think I am in a new zone with all the changes we have had. One of these changes was with my companion Elder Garcia as he returned to Salvador after 2 years of valiant service. One day that will be me but for now I am working hard. My new companion Elder Mendez is from Honduras and has 11 months in the mission. It is his first time as Senor companion and District leader. He is awesome and has a love for this work and I have learned a ton of Spanish from him. Right now we are working hard on the rolling of the rrr's because I still can't do it but I will!
A lot of the week was spent with Elder Garcia saying goodbye to families but when Elder Mendez got here we hit the calle running. There is one colony in our area called vrizas that I had never been to before but on Sunday we were talking about where we could go and we thought of vrizas and went. It was totally the spirit because outside the colonies there are armed guards and if you want to get in you have to have an address and name. Which we did not have. Nevertheless, We got in with the name of a family in the ward and we went to their street. I saw another member and thought I should go talk to him. So we went and talked with him and his wife and then they introduced us to our miracle for the week. A young man and his family who had read the restoration pamphlet, most of the Book of Mormon and knew how to pray perfectly! They want to be baptized and it was so amazing how we didn't do much but go and now we have found a family 100 percent ready for baptism in these next few weeks! The spirit works in us and it works in different ways. It could just be a thought that comes to mind or a whispering but it's there.
I hope that you all have an amazing week and that you listen to the impressions of the Spirit in your lives! I love you all and hope you have a good week.
Love,
Your Guatemalteco

Well it's been a while but... I only have 1 more week of training! I am so excited for only 3 hours of studies every morning instead of 4! In other news my companion leaves in 2 days and I will receive a new companion that day, the Zone Leaders know who it is but they won't tell me. All they said is that he is a Gringo. My companion was so happy to go home last week but now he is having a hard time, he is a little sad that he won't be a missionary anymore but he finished out his time with 5 baptisms on Sunday!
This week we had great success but all the glory of course goes to Our Heavenly Father! We baptized Fam. Monteroso and Hermana Estela and I am happy because in 1 year I could have the opportunity to enter the temple with Fam. Monteroso as they get sealed for eternity! We just baptized the mother and children because the father and older son were already members but now the family are all members! The President of the Mission was also at the baptism and it was cool that he was able to attend and talk to our investigators. I had the privelege of baptizing Hno Royer and Hna Monica Monteroso (The Son and the Mother) And I also baptized hna Estela and after 3 attempts all was well!
This week we also worked with our mini missionaries Hno Alvarado and Hno Moran. Their enthusiasm helped us have more energy to keep working hard and it was a great experience for them! Now that we have had great success we must continue to work hard. For 1 to keep our conversos in the straight and narrow path and also to find those that are waiting to hear this message. We certainly have been blessed to have seen so many miracles in these past few weeks and I can only thank Heavenly Father and continue to work hard to see more miracles! I love you all and hope that you have an amazing week! Love Elder Daybell

Buenas Tardes Everyone!
All is well here in the city of Villa Canales, Guatemala! We have seen some great miracles and had some great experiences. Right now we have 2 other young men working with us because the Stake is having an activity where 2 young men go to every mission companionship and get to be Mini Missionaries for the week. So during the day we go on splits which I am nervous for because I still have 2 weeks of training but it's good practice to be a leader I guess. In Other news my companion is leaving in 9 days and his emotions are everywhere. 1 minute he doesn't want to go, the next he is telling me all the things he is going to do when he gets home! I am excited for him and the role model he has been to me and I think in every prayer we have in the house we pray for his future spouse. haha
Even though it is his last week the fruits of our labors are showing, the miracles I told you about last week are coming through and we have 5 baptisms this Sunday as of right now. The family we are teaching are going to be baptized and everyone in that family will be a member. And after we are going to work hard and I hope with all my heart in 1 year I will get to go with them to watch as they get sealed for all of eternity! Also Hermana Estela is doing everything to be baptized and knows this is the true church. She told us that people have been talking to her about how she should attend the other churches but she told them No. I know the church I go to is the true church so I am only going to attend the church of the Mormonas. We have great investigators and I am so excited for this Sunday to watch this miracle take place!
I hope that you have all had a great start to a new year and are working hard to fulfill your goals! I love you all and miss you but I know that right now I am supposed to be here in Villa Canales and whatever happens in 9 days when my companion leaves is what the Lord wants for me. A donde me mandes ire, Senor.
Feliz Ano nuevo!

December 31, 2014

Hey Everyone! Happy New Year!
This week has been so amazing, we have had so many miracles and I have had so many amazing experiences this week it has been crazy! I have had so many tamales and there have been so many fireworks it's insane! But it has been fun to join in the traditions of Navidad here. I also loved being able to talk to my family. We started this week with no investigators for baptism and no idea what we were going to do to find more people. But we had faith we would find someone and we prayed like Enos in the Book of Mormon but it wasn't for a whole day, it was just powerful!
It's hard to find where to start but we were walking one day up the linea in our area, because we didn't want to pay to take a bus this day and we passed a lady who was standing in the opening of her door. My companion turned right around and contacted her. We found out later that she was from Salvador and when she lived there had received missionary lessons and attended the church, but she didn't know where it was at here so she didn't go. We taught her a lesson right there and had the prompting to challenge her to baptism. She accepted for the 11th of this month and we went early to pick her up and there she was already for church! Her name is hma Estela and she is bien pilas and we are going to visit her today for a followup on everything!
Also in the church was the mother of one of the members. The son Hmo Herber works with us sometimes and has a dream of going on a mission. He is 16 years old and no one in his family is a member and he trys to speak English with me so it's good that he is learning to be a missionary now! His mom attended church and actually talked with us. We would always try to have lessons with her but she always left the house or rejected us. She didn't want anything, but something changed. She got married and began to realize the importance of being with her family forever. We had a lesson with her and her family yesterday and the spirit was so strong! They all commited to baptism and Hmo Herber was so happy. I can't tell you how long this young man has been waiting for his family to join the church and be an eternal family! It was so special and I hope the Savior continues to work miracles in their lives to bring them into this church.
I have learned that miracles happen every week as long as we work hard. Miracles happen more if we put forth the effort to make them happen. This year has been an example to me of that and I look forward to seeing more miracles in weeks to come! I hope you all have a wonderful new year and enjoy yourselves! Love,
Elder Daybell
